| Rigging Instructions: "Colie Style" Daggerboard Control System | |

| The "Colie Style" daggerboard control system serves the same purpose as the "Sturgis Style". It elevates the forward end of the hiking straps, making it easier to get under them after a tack and it supplies a method for keeping the daggerboard up and down. The advantage of the "Colie Style" daggerboard control system is that the forward pull of the bungee is very even and consistent. This is because the forward pull is supplied by a separate bungee with a long and unobstructed run which allows the bungee act along it's entire length. The downside is that it is more complicated and requires the sailor to drill holes in his/her boat. | |

Step 1: Thread the small diameter bungee through the eye strap on the front of the daggerboard trunk and tie a stopper know in the end. |

Step 2: Thread the small diameter bungee under the hiking strap, back over the midship frame, through the open space behind the daggerboard well, back over the midship frame, under the hiking strap and forward. |

Step 3: Lace the end of the small bungee through the eye strap and dead end it with stopper knot. |

Step 4: Using a pencil and ruler, project the angle of the thwart's vertical support upward. Repeat on the opposite side. |

Step 5: Measure down 2" from the radius of the thwart and mark it with your pencil. |

Step 6: Using your mark from Step 5, draw a horizontal line which intersects the projection lines from Step 4. |

Step 7: Drill a 3/8 in. hole at intersection of your pencil lines. Repeat on opposite side. |

Step 8: Use a counter sink or grinding bit to bevel the edges of drill holes. |

Step 9: Thread the larger diameter bungee through one side and tie a stopper knot under the thwart. |

Step 10: Tie a small bowline in each end of the short piece of line in your kit. Thread the bungee through one of the bowlines and through the rubber tube. Then pass the line (not the bungee) through the open space between the daggerboard well and midship frame. Finally, thread the bungee through the bowline and forward to the thwart. Dead end with a stopper knot under the thwart. |
